Games Like P.T.: First-Person Haunted Houses and Hallways
P.T., the playable teaser for the cancelled Silent Hills, put you in one looping hallway of a suburban house that grew more wrong every time you walked it. Konami pulled it from the PlayStation Store in 2015, but these games carry on its idea: first-person haunted homes and loops that change as you look away.
The games
5 of the 8 games in this guide are not on Switch and are left out. Show them all.
-
PsychologicalMADiSONA dense first-person haunted house of puzzles and jump scares, with an instant camera that shows what is really there.
-
PsychologicalInflictionA photorealistic family home frozen by tragedy, changing as you go while a spirit stalks you.
-
PsychologicalThe Exit 8A looping subway passage where you must notice what is wrong, short and unsettling.
Visage is the fullest game built in P.T.'s mould: a large, dim house where families were murdered and people went insane, with rooms that shift when you look away, ghosts that watch and follow, and a sanity that drains in the dark. MADiSON is denser and louder, a puzzle-driven house of jump scares in which an old instant camera shows you what is really in the room. Infliction keeps the photorealistic family home frozen by tragedy, piecing its story together from letters and keepsakes while a spirit stalks you.
Konami's own SILENT HILL: The Short Message is the closest you can get to the series P.T. was made for: a free first-person game on PS5 in which a girl, lit only by her phone, walks a crumbling apartment block that turns into otherworldly spaces. Unbridled Horror, made on Game Jolt, calls itself P.T.-style outright, a house of unexplained things with a flashlight and a button to close your eyes.
Layers of Fear takes the changing house and makes it a painter's mansion that rebuilds itself behind your back. For the loop itself, CAPTURED turns your own late-90s home into an endless hallway in which you film whatever has changed to find a way out, and The Exit 8 does the same in a white-tiled Japanese subway passage in under an hour.
If you only try one, play Visage for the closest feel to what P.T. promised, or SILENT HILL: The Short Message if you have a PS5 and want Konami's own take for free.
