Games Like Dead by Daylight: Asymmetric Horror Games

Dead by Daylight puts four survivors against one killer played by another person, and the fear comes from knowing a human is hunting you. These asymmetric horror games keep that one-against-many idea, on PC, consoles and phones.

The games

10 of the 12 games in this guide are not on Epic and are left out. Show them all.

The two closest are built on famous horror films. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre turns the 1974 film into a game of four victims sneaking out of the Slaughter family's basement while three players hunt them as Leatherface and his relatives, listening for every noise. Halloween: The Game sets you in Haddonfield in 1978, as Michael Myers stalking the streets or as residents who hear him before they see him. Both have mixed Steam reviews, but they are the nearest to Dead by Daylight's chase and hiding.

On phones, Identity V and Horrorfield are free to play and follow the formula closely: four survivors repair machines or generators to open the way out while another player hunts them as the Hunter or the killer, in a gothic Victorian manor or dark ruined maps.

Two more are free to play. Secret Neighbor hides the hunter among the hunted: a group of kids gathers keys in the Neighbor's house to open his basement, while one of them is the Neighbor in disguise, waiting to set traps and drag them off. SCP: Secret Laboratory deals out roles each round in a facility after a containment breach, so you may be a prisoner looking for the exit or one of the creatures stalking the corridors.

For something different, Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game is a ten-player hunt in which three grinning alien clowns chase seven townspeople, and In Silence makes one player the Rake, a nearly blind creature that hunts by sound and can hear your voice over voice chat. White Noise 2 sends four investigators after tapes in the dark while a fifth player stalks them unseen, Horror Legends lets one player become a werewolf, a pumpkin-headed creature or a set of killer dolls, and BIGFOOT can put one friend in the role of the creature watching your camp. Dark Deception: Monsters & Mortals pits monsters against mortals in nightmarish mazes.

If you only try one, play The Texas Chain Saw Massacre for the closest feel on PC and consoles, or Identity V if you want to play free on your phone.
