DIVE or DIE - Children of Rain was made by Drop Rate Studio and published by Dear Villagers. It came out on Steam for Windows in July 2026. The world is drowning under a black rain, the tears of a being called the Maker of Rain, and you lead a band of desperate survivors with Jack, a haunted man set on saving what is left of humanity.

Most of the fear is under the water. Each dive takes you down into the Abyssal Pool, a labyrinth of sunken ruins, lost idols and mutated monsters. Your oxygen keeps dropping, your lamp lights only a little of the dark, and the screenshots show a lone diver beside a vast fanged fish and a glowing many-eyed shape at well over a hundred metres down. You can evade what lurks there or fight it, but either way every descent is a gamble.

Back at the surface you run the camp. You decide who joins, who dives and who dies, assign roles, craft tools such as better oxygen tanks, and upgrade buildings so the next dive can go deeper. Health and sanity have to be managed, death is permanent, and the days count down toward the flood. The aim is to find the sacred relics scattered across the drowned world before it ends.

It sits between DREDGE, where cosmic dread waits under a calm sea, and Narcosis, where a diver's air and nerve run out on the seafloor, with the camp-and-crew management of Darkest Dungeon. It suits players who like deep-sea dread and a harsh roguelite loop, and who can live with losing people they have grown attached to.

How to play DIVE or DIE - Children of Rain

Start in the camp and look over your survivors, their skills and their health and sanity.
Choose who dives and equip them with the tools and oxygen you can spare.
Descend into the Abyssal Pool and explore the ruins for relics and materials, watching your oxygen.
Evade the monsters you cannot handle and fight only when you must, then surface before the air runs out.
Spend what you bring back on crafting and camp upgrades, then pass the day and dive again before the flood.
