Our Bad Ending is a short, free horror visual novel by FEVER FICTION. Syira has always secretly wanted her best friend Huimin, and when a frantic call comes in the night after Huimin's quarrel with her boyfriend turns violent, the wish they made to a banana tree spirit as girls starts to look like it was heard. Two bad endings wait, depending on what you choose.

About Our Bad Ending

Our Bad Ending is a horror visual novel by FEVER FICTION, first released on itch.io in May 2025 and on Steam on 30 April 2026, where it is free. Its maker calls it a humid and visceral Southeast Asian horror about the pursuit of a doomed lesbian love. It runs on Windows, macOS and Linux and is played in English or Italian.

As girls, Syira and Huimin made a wish to a banana tree spirit, a silly ritual found on a blog: to stay best friends forever. Syira secretly wished for more. Years later, Huimin has been with her boyfriend for five years and they have booked a chalet for their anniversary. Then, in the middle of the night, Huimin calls in a panic: a lover's quarrel has turned violent. She begs Syira for help, and a dark and malicious desire begins to take root in Syira's head.

You read the story in Syira's voice over loose, hand-drawn art framed by red palm fronds, and make choices at key moments. It is short by design: the maker gives about 15 to 20 minutes and 7,000 words, with three full illustrations, fifteen partial ones and two bad endings to find.

The horror is mostly in the narrator and what she is willing to do and in the banana tree spirit that may have been listening all along. It contains violence, gore, abuse and homophobia, sexual themes and a few jump scares, and its maker recommends it for players aged 17 and over.
