What frightens Alone in your bedroom with a bright-pink Necronomicon, you summon Ln'eta, an eldritch goddess with a tentacled face and black wings, and perform rituals to win her over: snuff the lights, chant in a dead tongue, never look out the window. Get a step wrong and the cute date turns into a towering shadow asking why you have brought about the end of reality.

The free original Sucker for Love by Akabaka: a short Lovecraftian dating sim where you perform rituals from a pink Necronomicon to win a kiss from an eldritch goddess. It is played for laughs and cuteness, but a ritual done wrong turns the room dark and deadly.

About Sucker for Love: Prelude

Sucker for Love: Prelude is the first Sucker for Love, a short horror dating sim by Akabaka. It was made for the Dread X Collection 2 anthology and released on its own, free, by DreadXP in December 2021, ahead of the full game Sucker for Love: First Date.

You are a lonely occult fan who wants the attention of Ln'eta, the biggest eldritch girl in the cosmos. A strange pink Necronomicon tells you how: a series of rituals performed in your bedroom, each with exact steps, such as putting out every light, running water in the sink and chanting a phrase in the Mythos tongue.

In play you read dialogue with Ln'eta, gather what each ritual needs, follow the book and drag across the chant to speak it slowly. Keep her happy and your mind intact and you move toward a kiss; get it wrong and the horror you summoned turns on you. The store is open about it: dying once or twice is part of the price.

The tone is mostly comic and cute, with a bright pink anime style, but it mixes in real scares: the room going dark, Ln'eta turning into a shadow with glowing eyes and a voice asking why you woke her. It is a free taste of the series for anyone curious about Lovecraftian horror with a sense of humour.
