What frightens Arthur inherits his missing Uncle Edgar's apartment and a warning to destroy his manuscripts; following the trail through snowy forests, forgotten dungeons and otherworldly places, he is tormented by nightmarish visions of a ritual site and a whispering cube-shaped artifact, and finds a Lovecraftian reality that should have stayed buried.
Content: gore, mature content.
The Alien Cube is a first-person Lovecraftian horror adventure made by one developer, Alessandro Guzzo. Arthur follows the trail of his missing uncle from a flat full of manuscripts into snowy forests, dungeons and otherworldly places, where a cube-shaped artifact whispers of a reality never meant for human eyes.
About The Alien Cube
The Alien Cube is a first-person horror adventure made by Alessandro Guzzo, released on Steam in October 2021. It is the spiritual successor to his earlier game The Land of Pain, and it was built in CryEngine 5 with photogrammetry for a realistic look.
You play Arthur, a lonely man whose life is coming apart: a breakup, a move, and the mysterious disappearance of his Uncle Edgar. You wake in a sweat from the same bad dream, of a strange cave, occult symbols, a ritual site and a whispering, cube-shaped artifact falling from the sky. Then a letter arrives: your uncle's testament, leaving you his apartment and a warning to get rid of all his manuscripts. Going there to look for clues sets off a series of terrible revelations.
You explore in first person, interacting with objects to solve puzzles and find clues, and survive what you meet in hostile weather, snowy forests, forgotten dungeons and otherworldly places. The screenshots move from a sunlit rocky stream to a car abandoned in a rainy night forest, a green sky with a ringed planet over black trees, a dark room of iron beds and a vaulted dungeon corridor.
It ties back to Uncle Edgar, the hero of The Land of Pain, and it suits players who like slow, realistic first-person cosmic horror such as Conarium or Call of Cthulhu.
