Content: disturbing imagery.

The Melting Apartment is a free, short point-and-click horror game in Game Boy style. You investigate a young woman's disappearance in an old apartment building at the edge of town, and try to get out alive.

About The Melting Apartment

The Melting Apartment is a short horror adventure by flower studio, with Ashley Black, made in the style of a Game Boy game. The makers describe it as a moody and surreal horror adventure inspired by Italian giallo films and Junji Ito.

A young woman disappears soon after moving into an old building at the edge of town. You arrive by car to solve the missing persons case, a detective with a gun in the inventory, and climb into a building drawn in a few strong colours at a time: deep blue stairwells, yellow halls, dark red rooms where something with glowing eyes stares out of the dark. The text tells you every step you take feels wrong.

You play it like an old point-and-click adventure, searching rooms, picking things up and using them where they fit. The horror is in the place itself and in what you find of the woman who lived there. There are different paths and multiple endings depending on what you do.

It is free to play in the browser, and the same makers made Don't Let Her In, a short body horror story in a similar Game Boy style. It suits players who like short, strange pixel-art horror and manga-style body horror.
