What frightens An office worker moves between the days of one working week in the same office floor; in some days the office is bright and busy, in others it lies dark and cracked, webbed over with pale strands, a tall black shadow figure stands by the exit, and the way down leads to a body in the basement.

Content: dead body.

A Day in the Office is a short, free pixel-art point-and-click puzzle game by WinRawr, made in seven days for a jam about time. You move through the same office floor on different days of the week, carrying what you find from one day to another, while some days show the office dark, decayed and not empty. It plays in the browser.

About A Day in the Office

A Day in the Office was made by WinRawr in Godot in seven days for Lone Rabbit's game jam about time, and released on itch.io in August 2021. It plays free in the browser, or as a download for Windows, and players rate it 4.7 of 5.

You are an office worker on one floor of a building: cubicles, a clock on the wall, a cork board with an October calendar, a broken elevator. The trick is that the floor exists on every day of the week, and you can move between them. On one day the technician needs a tool, on another the tool is lying around; a coworker is thirsty on one day and the empty bottles are on another. Solving the floor means carrying things and knowledge across the week until the elevator will take you down.

The office does not stay friendly. On some days the lights are off, the windows cracked and the desks webbed over, and a tall black figure stands near the exit. What waits in the basement is the point of the trip.

It is a creepy puzzle game more than a frightening one, small and tidy, and suits players who like short pixel-art point-and-clicks with a mystery to work out in one sitting.

How to play A Day in the Office

  1. Open the game's itch.io page and press Run game to play in the browser, or download it for Windows.
  2. Move your worker with the mouse and click on people and objects to talk to them or pick things up.
  3. Move between the days of the week; what you take on one day can be used on another.
  4. Help the people on the floor until the elevator is fixed and you have the code for its keypad.
  5. Go down to the basement and use what you carry there to finish the game.

Tips

  • If something is missing on one day, look for it on another.
