Last Train Home is a short horror adventure by the itch.io developer hby, first made for MiniJam 47 in February 2020 and written entirely in C. An ending was added a week after the jam. Its maker says it is loosely based on a story of the same name they read on the internet.

You play a man in a white shirt and tie on the last train of the night. The game is seen side-on in small, careful pixel art: rows of red seats, windows full of black, the gaps between carriages where the noise of the track gets louder. You walk left and right through the cars and press a key to look at things and speak to the few people riding with you.

The fear is quiet. Nothing chases you; the dread comes from the train itself, the passengers, and the slow feeling that this is not the journey home it should be. It is one of the most rated browser horror games on itch.io and suits anyone who wants a short, moody piece to play in a few minutes.
