Crawling Pumpkin is a short 2D game by whateverdat, made with MonoGame and Aseprite for Scream Jam 2024. It is pay what you want on itch.io, where it can be played in the browser or downloaded for Windows.

The opening line sets it up: you are alone in a gloomy cemetery, disguised as a pumpkin, and you should leave at once. The pumpkin is a shell that keeps you safe from the uncanny things that live in the graveyard, and the only way out is to crawl slowly toward the exit along a row of grave railings under a pink moon.

The game is played with the spacebar, which moves you toward the exit. Creatures appear as you go, among them a spider hanging on a thread, and getting caught leaves your pumpkin smashed and shows your score. Reaching the exit tells you how many seconds it took, so a second run is about doing it faster.

It is small and quick, more Halloween mood and tension than real fright. It suits a few spare minutes on Halloween, or anyone who wants to see what a one-button horror game can do.
