What frightens It is spooky in look only and not frightening: costumed children go trick-or-treating at night and travel through time, and in battle their costumes grow into giant versions of themselves to fight cartoon monsters and the dental soldiers of Dr. Orel White, a dentist who wants to end Halloween.

Content: cartoon violence.

Costume Quest 2 is a light-hearted role-playing game by Double Fine, the sequel to Costume Quest. Siblings Wren and Reynold trick-or-treat, swap costumes that become giant warriors in battle, and travel through time to save Halloween from hygiene-obsessed villains. It is a Halloween game, not a frightening one.

About Costume Quest 2

Costume Quest 2 is a role-playing game by Double Fine Productions, published by Midnight City. It came out on 7 October 2014 for Windows, Mac and Linux and at the end of that month for consoles. It follows Double Fine's Costume Quest and is still sold on Steam, GOG, the PlayStation Store for PS4 and the Xbox store.

Siblings Wren and Reynold are the only ones who can save Halloween forever. Dr. Orel White, a dentist, wants to destroy it, and his villainous dental soldiers and hygiene-obsessed baddies stand in the way. The chase runs through time: back to before the children's hometown was founded, and forward to a dental dystopia.

You explore, take on quests, go trick-or-treating, find new costumes and collect Creepy Treat Cards. In turn-based battles each child fights as a gigantic version of the costume they wear, and the sequel adds counters and double attacks to the first game's combat. IGN put its length at roughly half a dozen hours.

There is nothing in it meant to frighten. Its spookiness is the Halloween setting, the masks and the monsters, all drawn in a bright cartoon style, and its humour is gentle. It is rated for ages ten and up for fantasy violence. It suits families and anyone who wants a seasonal role-playing game for October rather than a horror game.
