What frightens A spooky Halloween action game rather than a frightening one: on Halloween night in a village where everyone is dead, you run between four towers to keep their lanterns burning, because when a lantern's six minutes run out a creature called Bogey comes out of the dark. Waves of enemies come after you among the jack-o'-lanterns and skeletons, and if all four lights go out, so do you.

A free Halloween game for the browser. In a dead village on Halloween night you run between four towers to relight their lanterns before each one's six minutes run out, fighting off waves of enemies, because darkness lets a creature called Bogey loose.

About Trick Or Treat

Trick Or Treat is a small 3D game by trickRtreat, made in Unity and released free on itch.io in 2026, where it plays in the browser or downloads for Windows.

Its premise is simple and seasonal. On Halloween night darkness has fallen over a small village, and everyone in it is dead. Four lanterns, each hidden in one of the village's towers, are all that keeps a creature called Bogey away. Each lantern burns for six minutes. You have to reach it and light it again before it goes out, and you can relight a dead one only while at least one of the others still burns. If all four go dark, the night ends you too.

You play a small armoured fox with a glowing staff and a shield, seen from behind. The village square is ringed by wooden walls and covered walkways, lit purple and green, and strewn with carved pumpkins, bones and glowing mushrooms, with a pumpkin-headed scarecrow in a witch's hat watching over it. Enemies come at you in numbered waves while you run the circuit between the towers.

It is more Halloween fun than fright: there are no jumpscares or gore, and the tension comes from the lantern timers. It suits younger players or anyone after a quick seasonal game in the browser in October.

How to play Trick Or Treat

  1. Open the game's itch.io page and press Run game, or download the Windows build.
  2. Find the four towers around the village; each holds a lantern with its own six-minute timer.
  3. Run to a lantern before its light goes out and relight it.
  4. Fight off the waves of enemies that come after you on the way.
  5. Keep at least one lantern burning at all times, and press P to pause.

Tips

  • Learn the order of the towers so you can run one loop without doubling back.
  • Relight the lantern with the least time left first, not the nearest one.
  • Watch the Active Lanterns counter in the corner: below two, stop fighting and run.
