One Halloween Night is a free Windows game made in Unity by the solo maker ollienoseworthy, released on itch.io just before Halloween 2025 and updated since. Its maker calls it a realistic home-invasion horror experience.

You play a teenage boy whose parents have had to leave for the night without warning, so you are left to look after the house and the trick-or-treaters. Jack-o'-lanterns glow on the porch, kids in pumpkin masks complain they are too old for this, and there is pizza and a ghost film on the TV. You talk to the visitors, pick up and move objects, and walk the rooms of a warm, ordinary suburban home.

The horror is the slow loss of that comfort. A VHS camera effect softens the picture, the sound is kept low so every knock carries, and the costumes make it hard to tell a joke from a threat. What should have been a relaxing night becomes something much worse.

It suits players who want a short, seasonal scare in the line of home-alone horror games, best played at night with headphones as the maker suggests.

How to play One Halloween Night

1. Download the free Windows build from the itch.io page, extract the zip and run the .exe.
2. Turn up your volume and wear headphones; the maker notes the audio is quiet.
3. Move with WASD and look with the mouse; left click to interact and move dialogue on, right click to throw or drop.
4. Answer the door to the trick-or-treaters and look after the house.
5. Keep going as the night turns, to the end in about 25 minutes.

• Listen at the door and windows between visitors.
