What frightens You are Miles, fourteen and home alone for the weekend, going through an ordinary evening of texts from your mom and friends, fridge lasagna and chores, until small wrong things around the dark house build into the feeling that someone is there with you. It is told as the story of someone who survived because they made the right choices.

Content: uses your microphone, jumpscares.

Fears to Fathom - Home Alone is the free first episode of an episodic horror series. You play Miles, a 14-year-old left home alone while his parents are away, through one night that turns from ordinary to threatening, in a grainy VHS style.

About Fears to Fathom - Home Alone

Fears to Fathom is a series of short horror episodes by the solo developer Rayll, each presented as a story narrated by someone who survived. Home Alone, the first, came out free on Steam in July 2021, and later episodes such as Carson House followed.

The evening begins in a normal way. Miles's parents are out of town, his mother texts him about dinner, a friend asks about plans, and you wander a quiet suburban house at dusk, opening the fridge, taking out the rubbish and getting ready for bed. Messages arrive on your phone, and the game listens to your microphone.

The horror is in how ordinary it all is. Because nothing seems wrong at first, every sound and every small change in the dark house matters, and the realism of the setting, with its photographic look and VHS grain, makes the slow build to the threat feel close to home.

It suits players who like slow-burn, realistic horror about everyday danger, and it is free and short enough to try in one sitting.
