What frightens You are Holly, 19, taking the long way home at night to dodge traffic. Low on gas on a dark forest road, she stops at a lonely gas station and ends up at a motel, and the strangers she meets along the way make an ordinary drive feel more and more wrong.

Content: jumpscares.

Fears to Fathom - Norwood Hitchhike is the second episode of Rayll's Fears to Fathom horror anthology. You play Holly Gardner, a 19-year-old driving home from a gaming convention who takes a back road, stops for gas and ends up spending the night at a motel in Norwood Valley. It is a short first-person story with a VHS look, told as the account of someone who survived.

About Fears to Fathom - Norwood Hitchhike

Fears to Fathom is an episodic psychological horror series by Rayll in which each episode is a short story narrated by the person who survived it. Norwood Hitchhike, the second episode, came out on Steam for Windows on 6 January 2022.

You play Holly Gardner, 19, on her way home from a gaming convention. The traffic is bad, so she takes the long way, and halfway through the drive she realises she is low on gas. A stop at a lonely gas station in the woods leads to an unplanned stay at a motel, and something is going on in Norwood Valley that she knows nothing about. The store page says only that she survived because she made the right choices.

It plays as a first-person story: you drive the car along dark roads, talk to the people you meet through short dialogue choices, and read and answer texts from your dad and friends. The grainy VHS film look and the slow, everyday pace keep you waiting for something to go wrong, and Steam players mention both jump scares and real dread.

Compared with the first episode, Home Alone, which keeps you inside one house, Norwood Hitchhike takes you on the road. It suits players who like short, slow-burn story horror built on ordinary situations rather than monsters.

How to play Fears to Fathom - Norwood Hitchhike

  5. Make your choices carefully through the night so Holly gets out of Norwood Valley.
