Shift At Midnight is a horror game by Bun Muen, published by Kwalee, released on Steam for Windows on 22 July 2026. It mixes a shop job with detective work and can be played alone or with up to two friends online.

You manage a gas station through the night. You keep the shelves stocked, take deliveries, keep the store clean and sell enough to meet a nightly quota. You also question every customer, because some of them are doppelgangers. You examine their ID, cross-check their details on the store computer, ask about their clothes or licence plate and watch how they behave. If you think one is not human you can shoot it on the spot, though you then have to clean up after yourself.

Getting it wrong is where the horror starts. A doppelganger you let leave comes back later in the shift as a monster, and the game turns into a siege: you barricade the doors, place traps and find somewhere to hide. Shifts are randomly generated, so no two play the same. The Story Mode has 13 shifts, and the developer plans a free Endless Mode update with new customers, weapons, traps and monsters.

The game is gory, with blood on the floor and violence the store warns about, and with proximity chat and the store's own advice to play with friends, it is built as a group game first. It suits groups who liked No, I'm not a Human or Papers, Please style checking but want to play it together.

Tips
