Content: jumpscares, blood and gore, violence, player death.

Retail Hell is a first-person horror job simulator set in purgatory's only convenience store. You stock shelves, brew coffee, make hot dogs and fill the strange orders of grotesque dead customers to pay your debt, while uncovering why your shift never ends. It has jump scares, gore and multiple endings.

About Retail Hell

Retail Hell is a game by LEAP Game Studios, published by Midnighters and Gamirror Games and released on Steam in May 2026. It is available in English and ten other languages.

You are an overworked clerk stuck in a literal dead-end job: the only convenience store in the liminal void between life and death. You keep the coffee brewing, make hot dogs, maintain the machines and keep the place tidy, order supplies from a terminal and pay your taxes and your debt to the faceless management. If the store goes under, your soul goes with it.

The customers are the dead. A roster of grotesque entities comes to the window with strange requests and cryptic orders; serve them quickly and you may get a tip, upset them and face the consequences, from reality-warping curses and eldritch side effects to death. You can trade for grisly upgrades, such as new organs that help you last the night. Between shifts you piece together the sins of your past life and death to understand why you are trapped here, and there are multiple endings.

An Endless Mode added after release makes the dead more demanding as you race to buy extra time, with a slot machine, a recycler for sacrificing items, leaderboards, seeded runs and run modifiers. The store warns of violence, blood, gore, jump scares and the player's death at the hands of supernatural creatures.

How to play Retail Hell

  1. Open the store: brew coffee, make hot dogs and keep the shelves stocked.
  2. Order supplies from the terminal and watch your balance.
  3. Serve each dead customer at the window, working out what their cryptic order means.
  4. Keep the machines running and the store clean so it does not go under.
  5. Pay your taxes and debt, buy upgrades, and dig into your past to reach an ending.

Tips

  • Serve quickly; fast service earns tips and slow service angers the dead.
  • Keep spare stock of what sells most so a rush does not empty your shelves.
  • Try Endless Mode once you have seen the story; the store says it adds new orders and run modifiers.
