A survival horror game in the style of the 1990s classics, with fixed camera angles and first-person shooting. Michelle has been cursed by an archdemon looking for love, and she splits her days between her London street and a dangerous demon world, using a third eye to see between them.
About Sorry We're Closed
Sorry We're Closed is the first game by à la mode games, a two-person studio from Bournemouth, published by Akupara Games. It came out on PC in November 2024, and on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch in March 2025. Michelle works in a corner shop in a London borough and lives a quiet, lonely life, until a powerful archdemon who wants to be loved places a curse on her. She has a few days to break it.
The game is built like the survival horror games of the late 1990s. Rooms are seen from fixed camera angles, you manage an inventory of health and ammunition, and you collect items to solve puzzles and trade with the people you meet. Tank controls are there for anyone who wants them, beside modern controls. When a fight starts, the view switches to first person and you aim at a demon's weak points in short, arcade-style shooting.
Michelle's curse gives her the Third Eye. With a snap of her fingers she can see the demon world laid over her own, revealing hidden doors, secret identities and the weak spots of bosses. Her time is split between that world, with its bloody halls and monsters, and her street, where neighbours, angels and demons each have problems of their own. How you talk to them changes the ending you get.
It mixes real horror, gore and boss fights with a bright, neon look, dry humour and a story about love and loneliness. It suits players who like classic survival horror and want something with a strong style and a lot of character, and who do not mind talking as much as shooting.

- Talk to everyone more than once; the residents' stories open up over the days.
- Try tank controls if you want the classic feel, or turn on aim assist and other options in the accessibility menu.
- Play again on New Game+ to see other story paths with your upgrades kept.
