What frightens Blind creatures with hypersensitive hearing have overrun the world, and any sound you make can bring one down on you in seconds. You creep through farms, a hospital and a dark town in first person, reading a noise meter and picking every step, and an optional setting lets them hear you through your real microphone.

Content: violence and death, blood, strong language, uses your microphone (optional).

A first-person stealth horror game set in the world of the A Quiet Place films. You play Alex Taylor, an asthmatic and newly pregnant college student, sneaking past blind creatures that hunt by sound across an abandoned rural America.

About A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is a single-player horror game by the Italian studio Stormind Games, the makers of Remothered, published by Saber Interactive in October 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It tells an original story set between A Quiet Place: Day One and the first film.

You play Alex Taylor, a college student with asthma who survives the invasion with her boyfriend Martin and a group sheltering in a hospital. Early on she learns she is pregnant, and the story follows her across farms, camps and a small town as the people around her split apart over what to do.

The creatures are blind and fast, and they hear everything. The game is built around that: you read a handheld device that shows how much noise you are making, avoid loud surfaces, use what you find around you to get past them, and hide when one is near. You cannot fight back. An optional setting uses your microphone, so speaking or coughing in your own room can give you away.

Critics found it uneven and slow in places, and players are split, but it is tense when it works and is one of the few horror games built entirely on silence. It suits fans of the films and of stealth horror where you are always the prey.

How to play A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead

  1. Buy it on Steam, the PlayStation Store or the Xbox store.
  2. Move in first person and watch the noise meter as you walk on different surfaces.
  3. Crouch and step around anything that makes noise, such as debris and loose objects.
  4. Use the tools and objects around you to find a way past creatures that block your path.
  5. Hide and stay still when a creature comes close.
  6. Follow the story's objectives from one shelter to the next.

Tips

  • Walk slowly on unknown ground; running is almost always heard.
  • Look around before moving; the quiet route is usually there to be found.
  • If you turn on microphone detection, play in a quiet room and mute anything nearby.
  • Save your nerve for the town; the later areas are the most dangerous.
