Yuki Onna is a short PS1-style survival horror game by Chilla's Art. To save your missing son and two schoolgirls you go alone to an abandoned inn in the cold mountains, where enemies hunt you; you get one life and no saves, and a good or a bad ending.

About [Chilla's Art] Yuki Onna | 雪女

Yuki Onna (雪女, snow woman) is a survival horror game by Chilla's Art, the Japanese two-brother studio behind Aka Manto, released on Steam for Windows in January 2020. The makers call it a game similar to Aka Manto, and not a psychological horror or walking simulator like some of their others.

Your son Jin has gone missing along with two elementary school girls. While the police search the town, you receive three photos of the missing children with a message written on the back: come alone or I will freeze them to death. You set out alone for an abandoned inn high in the freezing mountains.

The inn is an old Japanese building of claustrophobic halls, with odd characters to meet and bizarre puzzles to solve. Enemies constantly hunt you while you explore; you can try to hide, and the maker's patch notes mention hiding in pots, but the store warns it may not go well. Items go into a small pocket inventory. Everything is drawn in a PSX look modelled on fifth-generation consoles.

You have one life and no saves, so a death sends you back to the start. A run takes about 90 to 120 minutes, and there is a good and a bad ending. The makers warn that it is very challenging and can frustrate players who cannot stay calm; it suits those who enjoyed Aka Manto and want another short, hard run built on Japanese folklore.

How to play [Chilla's Art] Yuki Onna | 雪女

  2. Head up to the abandoned inn and explore its halls for items and clues.
  3. Manage the items in your pocket inventory and solve the inn's puzzles.
  4. Hide when the enemies hunt you; with one life, a death sends you back to the start.
  5. Reach an ending, good or bad, and play again for the other.
