What frightens Rosemary Reed sneaks through the Felton house looking for a missing girl while the old, sick Dr. Felton hunts her room by room with a sickle; you hide, hold your breath and distract him with thrown objects, because with no weapons a chase that ends in his reach can end the game.

Content: gore, violence, some sexual content, strong language.

Remothered: Tormented Fathers is a third-person stealth horror game set in an old mansion. As Rosemary Reed you search for a missing girl while the house's owner and others stalk you, and with no weapons you survive by hiding, distracting and running.

About Remothered: Tormented Fathers

Remothered: Tormented Fathers was made by the Italian studio Stormind Games and came out on PC in January 2018, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One that July and Nintendo Switch in 2019. It is the first part of a planned trilogy, followed by Remothered: Broken Porcelain. The music is by Nobuko Toda and Luca Balboni.

Rosemary Reed, a woman of 35, arrives at the house of the elderly Dr. Richard Felton, claiming to help but really looking into the disappearance of his daughter Celeste. The nurse Gloria lets her in. Once Felton works out why she has come, he starts hunting her through the dark corridors, bedrooms and cellars of his home.

It plays as a stalker game in the line of Clock Tower: you explore in third person, solve practical puzzles and gather keys and items, and when you hear him coming you duck into a cupboard or under a bed. Thrown objects lure him away, and a few defensive items let you break free when caught. There is no health bar; Rosemary's body shows how hurt she is.

The fear is being hunted by someone who knows the house better than you, cued by his muttering and footsteps in 3D sound. It suits players who like hide-and-seek horror with a cinematic, twisty story, and who can bear repeated chases.

How to play Remothered: Tormented Fathers

  1. Buy it on Steam, PlayStation, Xbox or Switch and start a new game.
  2. Explore the Felton house in third person, picking up keys, notes and useful objects.
  3. Listen for footsteps and muttering; when a stalker comes near, hide in a wardrobe or under a bed and stay still.
  4. Throw items to make noise elsewhere and lure him away from the room you need.
  5. Use a defensive item to break free if you are caught, then run and hide again.
  6. Solve the house's puzzles to open new rooms and follow the trail of the missing girl.

Tips

  • Play with headphones: the sound tells you where your stalker is long before you see him.
  • Keep at least one defensive item for when you are grabbed.
  • Learn each stalker's route before crossing open rooms.
  • Save whenever you reach a save point; chases can undo a lot of progress.
