A survival horror game drawn in deliberate PS1-era style. You play Elster, a Replika searching an off-world facility full of corrupted machines, with a cramped six-slot inventory and scarce bullets. The fear is cosmic and psychological: static, visions and a reality that comes apart as you unravel the mystery.

About SIGNALIS

SIGNALIS is a survival horror game by the German studio rose-engine, released in 2022. You play Elster, a technician Replika (an android) who wakes alone after her ship goes down and sets out to find someone she promised to reach. Her search leads into an off-world government and mining facility that has fallen apart, its halls full of other Replikas that have been infected and turned hostile.

The game plays from a top-down view through low-poly 3D rooms, built to look like horror of the late 1990s and early 2000s, with pixel textures, film grain and a CRT-style haze. It follows the old survival horror rules closely: a small six-slot inventory, scarce ammunition, health items you ration, fixed save points and plenty of backtracking as you find keys and solve puzzles to open the next part of the facility.

The horror works on two levels. Up close it is tense and physical, since you rarely have enough bullets and often choose to slip past an enemy rather than fight. Underneath, it is cosmic and psychological: radio static, strange visions, repeating imagery and a story about memory and identity that keeps folding in on itself, with several endings depending on how you play.

SIGNALIS draws openly on Resident Evil and Silent Hill, on anime and on cosmic horror, and holds them together with a strong, lonely mood and a striking red-and-dark look. It runs on PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch, and suits players who want old-school survival horror, puzzle-solving and a slow, unsettling mystery rather than action.

How to play SIGNALIS

  1. Buy SIGNALIS on Steam for PC, or on the PlayStation Store, Xbox or Nintendo eShop.
  2. Play as Elster and explore the facility from the top-down view, reading rooms and picking up items.
  3. Manage your six inventory slots carefully, dropping and storing things you do not need right now.
  4. Solve the key and code puzzles that gate each area, and use save points when you reach them.
  5. Decide fight or flight for each enemy, since ammunition and healing are limited.
  6. Follow the mystery of who Elster is looking for toward one of the game's endings.

Tips

  • Keep your inventory lean: carry only what the next area needs and leave the rest in storage.
  • Many downed enemies get back up, so burning or avoiding them can be smarter than reloading on them.
  • Save ammunition for threats you cannot walk past, and rely on the flashlight and the map to plan routes.
  • Write down or screenshot codes and clues; several puzzles expect you to carry information between rooms.
  • Explore fully for spare supplies, but do not hoard healing you will never spend.
