Scavenge dark moon facilities for the Company and try to get home.

What frightens: Your crew lands on abandoned industrial moons to drag scrap out of dark facilities, and things live inside: creatures that freeze when watched and strike when you look away, ones that mimic sounds, and a giant that wanders the surface at night. You hear crewmates scream over walkie-talkies, and you lose everything a dead player carried.

Content: jumpscares, gore, loud sounds, online voice chat.

A co-op horror game for up to four players who work as contractors for the Company, collecting scrap from abandoned moons to meet a profit quota. Inside the dark facilities wait monsters and traps, and the crew has to talk to each other to get the loot back to the ship alive.

About Lethal Company

Lethal Company is a co-op horror game by the solo developer Zeekerss, released on Steam in early access in October 2023. You and up to three friends are contracted workers for the Company. Your job is simple: fly your ship to abandoned industrial moons, go into the derelict buildings, and carry out anything worth money, from brass bells to rubber ducks, before the deadline. Miss the profit quota at the end of each cycle and the Company fires you, out of the airlock.

The facilities are dark mazes of corridors, catwalks and locked doors, and each moon has its own weather and dangers. Most of the creatures inside have rules you learn by dying: one freezes while anyone looks at it and kills the moment no one does, another clings to the ceiling and drops onto your head, a jester winds up a song before something terrible happens. At night larger creatures roam outside, and the ship leaves at midnight whether everyone is on board or not.

Much of the fear comes from the crew. Voices carry only as far as you would hear them in the room, so a friend who wandered off is a scream you cannot place, and walkie-talkies crackle with half-heard calls for help. A player who stays on the ship can watch the radar, open doors and shut off traps from the terminal, guiding the others in. When someone dies, everything they were carrying stays where they fell.

The game mixes real scares with a lot of laughter and is one of the most-played co-op horror games on Steam. It suits groups of friends who want a session of panic and jokes; alone it is much harder and lonelier.

How to play Lethal Company

  1. Join or host a crew of up to four, land on a moon and leave your ship at the entrance to the facility.
  2. Explore the facility with a flashlight, pick up scrap items and scan creatures to learn about them.
  3. Carry the scrap back to the ship before midnight, when the ship takes off.
  4. Sell scrap at the Company building to meet the quota, and buy tools such as flashlights, shovels and walkie-talkies.
  5. Keep someone on the ship terminal to watch the radar and open doors for the team when you can.

Tips

  • Stay together; most creatures pick off players who wander alone.
  • Keep looking at a creature that only moves when unwatched, and back away slowly.
  • Buy walkie-talkies early so the crew can talk across the facility.
  • Do not take more scrap than you can carry out before the ship leaves.
