Haul fragile loot out of monster-filled levels with up to five friends.

What frightens: You explore dark, cramped levels full of monsters while hauling fragile, physics-driven valuables to an extraction point. Drop an item and it shatters; make noise and the creatures find you. Proximity voice chat means you hear friends scream as something drags them off.

Content: jumpscares, gore, uses your microphone, loud sounds.

R.E.P.O. is an online co-op horror game for up to six players. You and your crew of small robots search dark buildings for valuable objects, carry them carefully to an extraction point to hit a cash target, and try to avoid the monsters that roam each level. The fear comes from fumbling heavy items in the dark while something hunts you.

About R.E.P.O.

R.E.P.O. is an online co-op horror game by the small studio semiwork, released into Steam Early Access in February 2025. You play as one of a team of plastic-looking robots sent by a creator to recover valuables from abandoned, monster-filled locations. Each level sets a cash target, and your crew has to find enough fragile objects and extract them to meet it.

What sets it apart is its physics. Every valuable is a real object you grab, lift and move, and most are fragile. A vase or a television has to be carried gently through doorways and down stairs, and a careless bump or a panicked drop can smash it and your payout with it. Carrying the heavy pieces often takes two players working together.

The horror comes from doing all this in the dark with monsters nearby. Creatures stalk the levels, from a screaming pale figure to a lurching skeletal animal, and they react to sound and sight. Proximity voice chat ties the group together: you hear teammates clearly when close and lose them as they move away, so a scream from the next room tells you something has gone wrong.

Between levels you spend what you earned in a shop on items, upgrades and weapons, then push deeper for a higher target. The mix of comedy and panic, the flailing physics and the voice chat have made it a popular group game.

It suits players who enjoy co-op horror built around teamwork and tension rather than solo scares, and who do not mind that the game is still in Early Access and changing.

How to play R.E.P.O.

  1. Start or join a lobby of up to six players and head into the first level together.
  2. Search rooms for valuable objects and carry them carefully, teaming up on the heavy ones, to the extraction point.
  3. Watch and listen for monsters; use proximity voice chat to warn each other and hide or flee rather than fight when you can.
  4. Meet the level's cash target by extracting enough loot, then spend your earnings in the shop before the next, harder level.

Tips

  • Carry fragile items slowly and watch doorframes and stairs; a dropped object usually breaks and costs you the payout.
  • Keep talking. Proximity chat means a teammate only hears your warning if you are close enough.
  • Split tasks: some players scout and haul while others watch for monsters and clear the path to extraction.
  • Save shop money for upgrades that help the whole crew rather than spending it all on one run.
