What frightens Monsters in the buildings copy your friends' voices and behaviour and wear their faces, so the teammate walking next to you or calling for help may not be who they sound like; outside, a contaminated rain forces everyone back to the tram before midnight.

MIMESIS is a four-player online co-op horror game from ReLU Games. You gather anything of value and get back to the tram before the contaminated rain at midnight, while monsters that imitate your friends' voices and behaviour mix in with your group.

About MIMESIS

MIMESIS is a co-op horror game from the South Korean studio ReLU Games, published with KRAFTON. It came to Steam in Early Access in October 2025, and its Steam page says a microphone is required to play. The makers recommend a headset and a full group of four.

Each run you leave the tram with your crew and search buildings for things worth selling. The world outside is under a contaminated rain that is dangerous to stand in, and once night falls the tram is the only shelter, so you have to be back before midnight. Stay out in the rain too long and, as the game puts it, the next monster might be you. Scrap you bring back pays for restoring power to a service station, where you buy and upgrade equipment.

The fear comes from the monsters that imitate your friends. They copy voices and behaviour and look like the people in your group, so a call for help or a friend waiting around a corner may be a trap. Every decision to follow someone, share loot or split up carries that doubt. The characters are stylised figures in hoods and beaked masks, which makes the game look gentler than it plays.

It suits groups who enjoyed Lethal Company or R.E.P.O. and want a run built around talking and trust. It is not a single-player game.

How to play MIMESIS

  1. Join or host an online group of four, with a working microphone.
  2. Leave the tram and search the buildings for scrap and other valuables.
  3. Keep talking to your crew and watch for anyone whose voice or behaviour seems wrong.
  4. Get back to the tram before midnight and keep out of the contaminated rain as much as you can.
  5. Use what you bring back to restore power at the service station and buy or upgrade equipment.

Tips

  • Agree on a check with your group, such as a word or a question only a real friend would answer, before you split up.
  • Do not follow a voice calling for help without seeing who it is.
  • Watch the clock; being caught out in the rain after midnight is worse than leaving loot behind.
  • Play with headphones so you can tell where voices are coming from.
