Death Trips was made by Alberto Navarro, who works as Forameuss, in two days as a Halloween game, with his own code, music and sound and 3D models from the Unity Asset Store and OpenGameArt. He wrote that two years after its release it had been downloaded more than 100,000 times, and it is one of the most-rated Halloween horror games on itch.io.

You walk in first person through an infamous hotel: a long corridor of white doors and red carpet under dim ceiling lamps, a sitting room with blue sofas and dark old paintings, a window streaked with rain. The game tells you only that a serial killer is probably inside.

Its horror is in that probably. The spaces are plain and quiet, and the short time you spend there is mostly waiting for the moment the hotel stops being ordinary.

It suits players who want a quick Halloween scare to try in a few minutes, or to show friends.

How to play Death Trips

1. Download the Windows or macOS build from the itch.io page, naming your own price or nothing.
2. Unzip it and run the game.
3. Walk with the keyboard and look around with the mouse.
4. Explore the hotel until you find what is waiting there.
