Zardy's Maze is a free horror game by Full Trek Media, released on Steam in January 2021 for Windows and Mac. The store sets it up with a farmer's cheerful warning about pesky weeds in the cornfield and a pun about a maize, then warns of jumpscares and loud noises.

Your job is simple to state: walk into a corn maze at night and cut down the giant plants that have grown inside it. You carry a flashlight and an axe, and the axe is for the weeds. The maze is procedurally generated, so its paths change each time, and it is easy to lose track of where you have been.

You are not alone for long. Zardy, a scarecrow with a glowing jack-o'-lantern face, walks the maze, and the store lists eight adversaries in all to outwit and outmanoeuvre. You choose whether to stay on the paths or run into the corn when something comes for you.

The makers call it extremely challenging. Beyond the main maze there is a Challenge Mode with ten set challenges and a custom mode for building your own. It suits players who want a free, replayable stalker game with autumn harvest atmosphere.

How to play Zardy's Maze

1. Download it free on Steam for Windows or Mac.
2. Enter the corn maze with your flashlight and axe.
3. Find the giant weeds and cut each one down with the axe.
4. Avoid Zardy and the other creatures; run into the corn or change paths when they come close.

Tips

• Keep a rough mental map: the maze changes every run.
• Listen for movement in the corn before turning a corner.
