What frightens Twelve short games by different indie teams, each told to make something spooky-cute, where cheerful surfaces turn wrong: a cuddly platformer island with a dark secret, an ice-cream stand at a spectral funfair watched by a robot cat, a hotel night shift with peculiar guests, and a first-person research station where a discovery goes bad.

Content: gore, violence, themes of suicide and self-harm.

Dread X Collection 3 is a horror anthology of twelve short games, each made in ten days by a different indie team around the theme spooky-cute. You reach them through a castle hub with its own story, and they range from platformers and point-and-click adventures to an ice-cream simulator.

About Dread X Collection 3

Dread X Collection 3 was published by DreadXP in October 2020, the third in its series of horror anthologies. Eleven indie teams and the studio Torple Dook were each given ten days to make a game with a twist on the theme spooky-cute: a dancing skeleton, a dog in a spider costume, vampire bats.

The games are joined by an interactive launcher made by KIRA, the creator of Spooky's Jump Scare Mansion. You guide Leo and the alien mind Prometheus through a castle that changes as you beat each game, and the hub's story ties into the first two collections.

The twelve are very different. Bubbo is a Super Mario 64-style platformer on an island with a dark secret; Bete Grise is a 90s-style isometric night shift in a strange hotel; Chip's Tips is a full-motion-video adventure about a Halloween party; Nice Screams at Funfair has you serving ice cream to otherworldly customers; REACTOR is first-person horror on a remote research station; SPOOKWARE @ The Video Store is a microgame Halloween movie marathon. Others include Disparity of the Dead, EDEN: Garden of the Faultless, Matter OVER Mind, SATO WONDERLAND and Soul Waste.

It suits players who like short, inventive indie horror and want a Halloween sampler more than one long scare.
