Up All Night is a horror mystery visual novel by Fiendish Fiction. Stranded at a remote cabin after a blizzard, recent high school graduate Nick stumbles on a gruesome scene in the woods, and with two locals he has to uncover what haunts the trees and survive it. It is over 25,000 words long and has eight endings.

About Up All Night

Up All Night is a horror visual novel by the small team Fiendish Fiction, released on Steam in October 2021 and sold on itch.io as Up All Night Remastered for Windows, Mac, Linux and Android. It was written by Terra Babcock, drawn by Johan Faulstich and scored by Walksoftly.

Nick, just out of high school and still struggling after a grisly tragedy, is dragged to a remote cabin by his mother for a winter weekend away. A blizzard leaves her trapped in town and him stranded in the cabin with no phone signal, no internet and nothing to do, so he goes out into the backwoods. There he finds something gruesome. With Felix, the cabin owner's stiff and proper son, and Grayson, the caretaker's cheerful daughter, he sets out first to learn what haunts the woods, and then to survive it.

You read it as a visual novel: dialogue over hand-drawn sprites with over 100 expressions, snowy birch woods and a hunting-lodge cabin, with five illustrations to unlock and an original soundtrack. Your choices steer Nick toward one of eight endings, and some of them are bad ones. The remaster adds a gallery scene for players who reach every ending, and the makers offer an ending guide as a separate download.

The horror is a murder mystery in the snow with something worse behind it: blood on the snow, a moan from the shadows, and hints that there are things in these woods that eat. The makers warn of violence, suicidal ideation, medication abuse and gore, drawn and written. It suits readers who like a monster mystery told as a branching visual novel, and it leads into the makers' later Up All Night stories, Rumination and Daybreak.
