Winion Virus is a pixel-art horror visual novel about Winions, cute digital creatures that live in a computer. You raise them through an illegal program and fix errors in the system, until the bug turns out to be something else and a cruel story comes out from behind the charm.
About Winion Virus
Winion Virus is a horror visual novel by Dawntown Studio, released on Steam at the end of 2024. It asks what would happen if there were living things inside a computer.
In its world, Winions are data creatures that think for themselves and feel happiness and depression like people. The state protects them, raises the young ones in the Winion Repository and assigns adults their jobs, and raising one privately is illegal. You do it anyway, by buying a program called Raising Winions, and five little Winions with their own personalities move into your computer.
It plays as a point-and-click adventure on a simulated retro desktop, where your task is to fix the errors occurring in the system, with 3D game sections in which you work with the Winions to solve problems. The bright pixel art does not last: the bug is not a simple system error, and the store promises a shocking and cruel fairy tale behind the lovely graphics.
The maker warns that the game contains strong language, death, gore, self-harm and suicide. It suits players who liked Doki Doki Literature Club, KinitoPET or Goodnight Meowmie, where something cute on the screen hides something much worse.
How to play Winion Virus

- Keep following the bug in the computer to see where it leads.

Tips
- Read the content warnings first; the cute art is not a sign of a gentle story.
- Look over every window and file on the desktop; the story is hidden in small details.
- Get to know each Winion's personality; it matters to the story.
