BLOOD MALL: RETAPED is a short first-person horror game by Ollie Hall, released on Steam and itch.io in April 2026. It is a full overhaul of his earlier free itch.io game BLOOD MALL, with new visuals, a new blood and gore system and extra content, and a second part is on the way.

It plays like a pulpy 1980s B-movie. You are a big game hunter who has become a rookie cop, sent into the Dayton County Mall after a unique prehistoric beast has killed nearly everyone inside. Armed with a trusty but very outdated shotgun, you walk through the shops, the arcade and the video store, talk to the few odd survivors and find out how a dinosaur got into a shopping mall.

The horror is in the blood and the stalking. The mall is drenched in red, bodies are left where they fell, and the creature rushes you from the shadows in red-lit attacks. The maker cites Puppet Combo as an inspiration, and the low-poly look and grainy picture match it. Players also enjoy its dark humour, odd characters and secrets.

Players call it a tense, gory half hour with jokes along the way, and wish it were longer. It suits fans of retro creature features and short PS1-style horror who want one sitting of it.

How to play BLOOD MALL: RETAPED

1. Buy it on Steam or itch.io and play on a Windows PC, with a keyboard and mouse or a controller.
2. Enter the Dayton County Mall in first person with your shotgun.
3. Search the shops for survivors and clues about the massacre.
4. Watch and listen for the dinosaur, and shoot it when it comes for you.
5. Finish the hunt, then replay for the secrets and achievements.
