What frightens Guided by an ancient spirit, you search the memories of Forgotten Hill's strangest residents in sepia rooms full of masked, grotesque figures, bloodied kitchens, open graves and severed body parts on display, solving puzzles to uncover each family's disturbing secret.
Content: gore, blood.
Forgotten Hill Mementoes is a first-person point-and-click horror puzzle game by FM Studio. Led by an ancient spirit, you go through five chapters of the town's past, each the story of one of its most mysterious residents, solving puzzles among grotesque characters and gruesome secrets.
About Forgotten Hill Mementoes
Forgotten Hill Mementoes is a horror puzzle game by FM Studio, the studio behind the Forgotten Hill series. It came out on Steam for Windows and Mac in March 2018 and is also on itch.io, the App Store and Google Play. It gathers five chapters: Buried Things, Run Run Little Horse, Love Beyond and Playground, first released as separate short Memento games, and a new last chapter, Mischief Night.
An ancient spirit leads you into the town's memory, through stories the makers describe as being about friendship, payback, love and secrets, and then to the night when the story seems to end and everything begins. Each chapter is set around one of Forgotten Hill's residents and their home: you click from view to view in first person, pick up items, combine them, and work out codes, dials and machines to move on.
The art is drawn in sepia tones with splashes of red, in a style close to the Rusty Lake games that several players mention. The residents are grotesque, many masked or misshapen, and the rooms hold a bloodstained kitchen floor, a bloody knife, open graves and severed hearts and brains set out on stands. A Steam reviewer warns that its horror and gore make it a poor pick for children or the squeamish.
It has a one-click hint system, text in nine languages, and achievements. Players praise its puzzles and dark backstory; some find a few rooms too dark and the pixel hunting tiring. It suits players who like Rusty Lake and Cube Escape and want more of that grim, puzzle-box style.

Tips
- Clues are often in another room: a painting or a note can give the code for a lock elsewhere.
- Look over every corner of a dark room; some details are hard to see.
- Try the chapters without hints if you want the no-hint achievement; players say it is fair once you learn the series' style.
- Forgotten Hill's site has official walkthrough videos for every chapter.
