What frightens A young woman wakes lost in a grim other world of concrete corridors, butcher's hooks and blood, inhabited by tall, monstrous men who speak a language she cannot understand; some are curious about her, some want to kill her, and a wrong choice can mean sudden death.
Content: violence, blood, sudden deaths, disturbing imagery.
Homicipher is a point-and-click horror adventure about language. Lost in another world, you meet monstrous men who speak in strange symbols, and you work out what each word means from their faces, gestures and what they point at, trying to find a way home without saying the wrong thing.
About Homicipher
Homicipher is made by Yatsunagi (八名木Games) and published on PC by Gamirror Games. It came out on Steam for Windows and Mac in November 2024, and on Nintendo Switch, published by HuneX, in March 2026. Its makers describe it as a language-deciphering adventure built on the idea of romance with horror men.
The protagonist wakes up somewhere else: dim concrete corridors, rooms with hooks and chains, blood on the walls. The inhabitants are tall and wrong, with names like Mr. Crawling and Mr. Silver, and they talk in an alphabet she cannot read. Some want to help, some want something else, and some want her dead.
Play is point and click. You investigate objects to learn words and talk to the creatures, and when an unknown word appears you can type your own guess at its meaning. The language is crude, one word to one idea with almost no grammar, so you learn to read faces, gestures and the things they point to. Choices branch the story, sometimes into instant death, though you can retry at once and jump back to earlier scenes. There are 17 endings across character routes and late chapters, plus 20 mid-story bad ends.
Reviewers praised how the deciphering makes you learn the world, and noted that the romance is subtle rather than a dating sim. It suits players who like puzzle-led horror with strange characters and many routes to explore.

Tips
- Rewatch scenes once your dictionary has grown; old lines make more sense.
- Watch what a character points at; it is often the meaning of the word.
- Do not trust the first happy-looking ending; its makers warn there is a fake one midway.
- Try risky choices too; a game over costs you nothing.
