Content: gore, blood, violent deaths, jumpscares.

Power Drill Massacre is a low-poly slasher horror game by Puppet Combo, inspired by VHS slasher films and PS1 survival horror. Megan, hurt after a car crash, is trapped in an abandoned building and must find a way out while a masked killer with a power drill hunts her.

About Power Drill Massacre

Power Drill Massacre is one of the early games of Puppet Combo, the studio known for VHS-style horror like Nun Massacre and Murder House. It first appeared in 2015 and is sold on Puppet Combo's itch.io page as early access; a full version with new areas, new endings, puzzles and inventory, better controls, a second campaign and fixed, third and first person cameras is planned, and has a Steam page of its own.

The setup is pure slasher. After a car crash Megan runs through the woods to an abandoned building, looking for help. The door jams, she is locked in, and in the dark corridors she hears the whine of a power drill somewhere ahead. The killer, masked and pale, wanders the building while you look for the way out.

It looks and sounds like a lost tape from a video store's horror shelf: low-poly figures, blurry textures, rooms drenched in blood, scratchy VHS filters and a synth score. Much of the fear is in not knowing where he is, and in how suddenly a search becomes a chase.

It suits players who like Puppet Combo's other games, retro slasher films, and short, rough, nasty horror. The early access build is still in progress, as its maker says.

How to play Power Drill Massacre

  1. Buy and download the game from Puppet Combo's itch.io page.
  2. Guide Megan through the dark building, searching rooms for anything that helps her get out.
  3. Listen for the drill: it tells you the killer is near.
  4. Run and break line of sight when he finds you.
  5. Keep looking for the way out of the building.
