A free fan-made game based on John Carpenter's 1978 film Halloween. You are babysitting Tommy on Halloween night when a creepy phone call comes and someone tries to get in, and you have to survive the masked killer in a dark, realistic house. It is short, tense and plays in first person on Windows.

About Halloween (fan-made game)

This is a fan-made game based on John Carpenter's Halloween from 1978, made by Martín Fernández and Damián González and first released on itch.io on 31 October 2021, with an update in July 2022. It is not an official licensed game; the official one on this site is Halloween: The Game. It is a free download for Windows, and the menu can be switched between English and Spanish.

You are babysitting Tommy on Halloween night. The house is warm and lived in, with jack-o'-lanterns on the kitchen counter, a television on and Tommy's name on his bedroom door. Then the phone rings, the voice on it is wrong, and someone tries the front door.

From there it plays as a short first-person survival game in the dark. Objectives at the top of the screen tell you what to do next: answer the phone, close the open windows, restore the power from the basement. You carry a flashlight, you can hold your breath to stay quiet while he is near, and the killer in the white mask turns up in doorways, behind blinds and at the foot of the stairs. In the end the objective changes from hiding to fighting for your life.

It suits fans of the film and of slasher games who want a short, free scare for Halloween night, and players who liked the house-siege tension of One Halloween Night or You Are Grounded. A sequel by the same makers, Halloween 2 - Asylum, moves the night to the psychiatric hospital.

Tips

  • Play with headphones: footsteps and the door are your warnings.
  • Turn the flashlight off when you hide; light gives you away.
  • Lower the graphics setting if the game stutters; it is a heavy Unreal Engine build for its size.
