What frightens You play the alien parasite again, a pink grub that gets inside animals and people around a lonely rural home and kills them in grisly ways, taking a power from each victim, building to a bloody final kill; the makers promise more horror and gore than the first game.

Content: gore, violence, animal death.

The Visitor Returns is the free Flash sequel to The Visitor, made by ClickShake Games and released on Newgrounds in 2011. You guide the alien parasite through seven new scenarios, using what is around you to kill each victim and take its powers, up to a bloody final confrontation with six possible outcomes.

About The Visitor Returns

The Visitor Returns is a point-and-click horror game from ClickShake Games, the studio founded by Jay Ziebarth (Zeebarf) and Steve Castro. It is the sequel to Zeebarf's 2007 Flash game The Visitor and came out in December 2011; it still plays free in the browser on Newgrounds through its Ruffle player.

You are once more the alien death slug, a small pink grub from space. Across seven new scenarios around a secluded home, you use everything in each scene to get at your prey: click the hotspots, try what happens, and find the order that lets the parasite strike. Each animal or person you devour gives you a new power, and by the end you have a choice of ways to deal with your final victim. The makers promise six possible outcomes for that last fight.

The horror is body horror seen from the monster's side: creatures killed from the inside, blood across the drawn scenes and a grub that becomes more grotesque as it feeds. The makers say it has more horror and gore than the first game. JayIsGames called it a gore-fest of cartoonishly over-the-top killing, with a dark sense of humour running through it, and noted that a failed attempt only resets the scene, so you can experiment freely.

It suits players who enjoyed the first game, and who like grisly point-and-click puzzles where they play the creature rather than flee it. JayIsGames found it on the short side and wanted more story.

How to play The Visitor Returns

  1. Open the game's Newgrounds page; the old Flash game runs in the browser through Newgrounds' Ruffle player, so no plug-in is needed.
  2. Press the play button on the game and wait for it to load; refresh the page if it does not start, as the makers suggest.
  3. Move the mouse over each scene: the cursor changes over things you can use.
  4. Click objects and creatures in the right order so the parasite can reach and kill its prey, taking its power.
  5. In the final confrontation, choose how to use your powers; there are six possible outcomes to find.

Tips

  • A failed attempt only resets the scene, so try everything.
  • Remember the powers you have gained; later scenes and the final fight depend on them.
  • Replay the last scene to see each of the six outcomes.

Questions

Can you still play The Visitor Returns?

Yes. It plays free in the browser on Newgrounds through its Ruffle player.

Do I need to play The Visitor first?

No, but it helps. It continues the story of the same alien parasite, and the first game is free on Newgrounds too.

How many endings does The Visitor Returns have?

The makers promise six possible outcomes for the final confrontation: different ways the parasite can finish its last victim with the powers it has gained, rather than separate story endings.

Is The Visitor Returns gory?

Yes. The makers say it has more horror and gore than the first game, drawn in a cartoon style.
