There is Something in the Anderghast Mine is a horror game by A. V. Dossow, the maker of A House for Alesa, made in about 19 days with RPG Maker MZ for the 17th RPG Maker Horror Game Jam in 2023 and updated in 2026. It is on itch.io for the browser, Windows and macOS, and you name your own price.

It is 1998. Marion is 20, and ten years ago her father disappeared without a trace while working at the Anderghast mine, which some say is one of the most haunted places in the world. A few days ago she received a letter from someone who claims to know where he is, and who is waiting for her near the mine. It is suspicious, but she has to know.

You guide Marion through dark top-down pixel-art places lit by a small pool of light, finding blood, notes and items, solving small puzzles and running from monsters that players say are each distinct. The maker promises different and gruesome death animations, nightmarish and grotesque events and an oppressive, eerie setting, and there are four endings depending on what you do. Harder modes remove items and speed up the enemies.

The maker warns of pixelated blood and gore, jumpscares, partial nudity, loud sounds, claustrophobia, flashing lights and disturbing imagery. It suits players who like classic RPG Maker horror such as Mad Father or Ao Oni.

Save often; deaths come quickly and each has its own animation.
