Cohabitation is a free RPG Maker horror game by AlgebraFalcon, playable in the browser on itch.io. On the alien planet Alkia, you are one of the peaceful Alkians, hunted by the terrifying Holl, sent to reclaim a radio tower so your species can escape; your choices lead to one of eight endings.

About Cohabitation

Cohabitation is a horror game made in RPG Maker by AlgebraFalcon for the University of Chicago's Digital Storytelling class, with help from several classmates, an original soundtrack by monom and an Italian translation added in 2026. It plays free in the browser on itch.io, and downloads for Windows and Mac are offered at a price you name.

Two hundred light years away, the planet Alkia is home to two sentient species: the peaceful, technological Alkians, and the Holl, who live by hunting them. You are tasked with reclaiming a radio tower to help find a planet that could take your people in. The question the game asks is whether you help your species escape, or whether there is somehow a way to live together. The maker calls the play one part horror-puzzle, one part narrative adventure and one part dating sim, and says your pivotal choices, and how optimistic or cynical you are, decide which of eight endings you reach. Some secrets only happen by random chance.

The horror comes from the Holl and from the world itself: a hulking blue predator with staring white eyes towering over a tiny Alkian, blood on the floors of metal-grated rooms, and warped, painterly portraits of beings who ask unsettling questions. The maker warns of blood, intense violence, frightening imagery, mentions of suicide and mild light flashes.

The maker discloses that some of the game's otherworldly portraits were made with an early AI image tool, VQGAN+CLIP, alongside custom-painted art, and has written that this use does not reflect their current views on AI art. Players praise its story, music and the moral questions it raises. It suits players who liked Time is Solid Here by the same maker, or story-driven RPG Maker horror with real choices.
