You guide the Batter, a silent man with a bat, through strange zones haunted by specters, solving puzzles and fighting, while a grinning cat called the Judge explains a world that grows more unsettling the further you go.

About OFF

OFF is an RPG by Mortis Ghost, made in 2008 by the Belgian team Unproductive Fun Time and long a cult favourite. In 2025 Fangamer released a remake for Windows, Mac, Linux and Nintendo Switch, with official translations, quality-of-life improvements, a new battle system, rebalancing and new areas and enemies.

You are a phantom, a presence the Batter carries with him, and the Batter has a sacred mission: to purify the world. A cat with a wide, toothy grin called the Judge meets you at the start and guides you on. The world is divided into zones with their own guardians, chosen by a Queen, and pale, strange inhabitants, linked by swan boats and trains, and all of them filled with specters the Batter means to remove.

Play mixes exploration, puzzles and battles. You solve puzzles that ask for passwords, objects and careful movement through the space, and you fight with a system where each character acts when their cooldown is ready, so enemies and the party can strike at the same time.

OFF is not a game of jump scares. Its horror is surreal and quiet, in its hopeless, empty places, odd characters and the growing doubt about what the Batter is doing, and it ends with a choice that splits the story between two main endings. It suits players who like strange, dark RPGs and want to see one of the games that influenced a generation of indie developers.
