Witch Hunt is a horror-themed hunting game by Gua, released on Steam in 2018. It is set in the 18th century, and you play a witch hunter who has taken on the job of clearing out all the evil that has settled in the woods near the town of Bellville.

The game is built around exploration and patience. The environments are large and non-linear, there is no hand-holding, and the creatures do not come to you on a schedule: you have to search the forest at night, read the signs and find them. Weapons, magic and other tools can be found or bought, and light RPG systems for money and skills let you grow stronger over time.

The fear comes from the woods themselves. Bare trees, fog and darkness make every shape suspect, and a pale spirit can drift out of the dark while you are reloading. The store warns that hunting needs patience and perseverance and that the game is challenging.

It suits players who like slow, atmospheric hunting games more than fast shooters, and who are happy to wander a dark forest for a long time waiting for something to appear.
