Hello Neighbor is a stealth game about breaking into the house across the street to find out what your neighbour keeps in his basement. He chases you, and he learns: the paths you favour get traps and cameras. The games below keep that loop of sneaking into a place you should not be, hiding from someone who lives there, and solving its puzzles to get through.
Start with the series. Hello Neighbor 2 widens the idea to a whole town: as a journalist you sneak into the homes and crime scenes of Raven Brooks to learn what happened to Mr Peterson, while its suspicious residents watch for intruders. Secret Neighbor turns it into a party game: a group of kids searches the Neighbor's house for the basement keys, and one of them is secretly the Neighbor, waiting for the right moment.
The free mobile escape games follow the same pattern with a scarier host. In Granny 3 you have five days to get out of a walled mansion while Granny hears every sound and Grandpa watches, and Keplerians' Mr. Meat and Ice Scream 4: Rod's Factory send you into a butcher's house and an ice cream man's factory to free the people they hold, hiding and distracting your captor while you solve the place. Evil Nun: The Broken Mask is the same studio's full game on PC and consoles: a possessed nun holds a school, and you sneak, solve puzzles and craft with other trapped children to rebuild a broken mask.
For a darker break-in, Stay Out of the House puts you in a cannibal's house for three days, finding tools and avoiding traps in a grainy PS1 style. With friends, The Blackout Club has teenagers sneak out at night past sleepwalking adults to record evidence, and Lunch Lady has up to four students break into school for the test answers while a possessed lunch lady patrols the halls. Boo Men makes the break-in the job: up to four burglars rob houses where monsters wait wherever the light does not reach, and every lamp you switch on drains the power. Intruders: Hide and Seek turns it round: three intruders take a boy's parents hostage in a country house, and he has to sneak through the dark to save them, with or without VR. The Butler is a free 48-hour jam game: twelve keys, a mansion and a butler who keeps asking where you are.
If you only try one, play Hello Neighbor 2 for more of the same, or Evil Nun: The Broken Mask for a fuller stealth game in the same spirit.
