Lunch Lady is a first-person co-op horror game for one to four players by Manic Mice. With finals coming, you and your friends break into school at night to steal ten pages of test answers, while a possessed lunch lady hunts you through the dark hallways.

About Lunch Lady

Lunch Lady is an online co-op survival horror game by Manic Mice, released on Steam in April 2021. The setup is simple: the final exams are coming, and the best idea you and your friends had was to break into school and steal the answers. You need all ten pages, and then you need to get out.

The school is dark, and you search classrooms, hallways and the cafeteria by flashlight. Keys open locked doors, and medkits let you heal each other. Every match is different: the pages, keys and medkits spawn in new places across several maps, and the Lunch Lady looks for you in different locations. As the match goes on she gets faster and stronger, so the clock is always against you.

The Lunch Lady herself is the fear: an evil, possessed old woman with a rotten smile who chases you through the whole school and whacks anyone she catches with a pan. Proximity voice chat and 3D audio mean you hear her coming, and you hear your friends scream in the distance when she gets them. There are three difficulty modes, Normal, Hard and Insane, and you level up to unlock new characters.

It plays like Granny or Slender set in a school, with friends along. The tone mixes real chase panic with a sense of humour, which makes it a good pick for groups who want a short, replayable scare night. You can also play it alone.

How to play Lunch Lady

  1. Start a match alone or with up to three friends, and pick a difficulty: Normal, Hard or Insane.
  2. Search the dark school with your flashlight for the ten pages of exam answers.
  3. Pick up keys to open locked doors and medkits to heal yourself and your friends.
  4. Stay away from the Lunch Lady and run when she spots you; she gets faster and stronger as time passes.
  5. Once all ten pages are found, get out of the school.

Tips

  • Split up to cover more rooms, but stay close enough to heal a friend who has been hit.
  • Listen for the Lunch Lady: proximity chat and 3D audio carry her sounds and your friends' screams.
  • Do not linger: the longer the match runs, the faster and stronger she gets.
  • Item spots change every game, so check rooms you skipped last time.
