Content: blood, fantasy violence.

Martin set out for a quiet autumn morning of fishing and ended up somewhere else: a dark fairy-tale land of grim forests, strange folk and monsters. In this hand-drawn puzzle adventure you solve your way through it, uncover its secrets and try to save everyone you can on the way home.

About Creepy Tale: Some Other Place

Creepy Tale: Some Other Place is a puzzle adventure by Creepy Brothers, released on PC, Mac and Linux in May 2024 and on PlayStation, Xbox and Switch later that year. It tells a new story set in the same fairy-tale world as the earlier Creepy Tale games.

An autumn morning promised Martin a quiet fishing trip, but events carry him to 'some other place'. To get home he has to cross a land of misty dead forests, carved stone faces, caves and crooked huts, meet the people and creatures who live there, uncover its secrets and save as many of them as he can.

You walk Martin through side-view scenes, pick up items and solve puzzles. The store promises a wide variety of puzzle mechanics; the screenshots show a star-chart globe, a coded table of numbers and symbols, and a machine with dials and buttons. The art is hand-drawn with stop-frame style animation, the story is voiced in English and Russian, and the game is best played with a gamepad, as the makers advise.

The horror is that of an old, dark folk tale: a giant mouth of teeth in the trees, a toad-like creature by a cauldron, gnomes in a candlelit cave. On Xbox it is rated Teen for fantasy violence and blood. It suits players who like eerie storybook atmosphere and steady puzzles more than chases and jump scares.

How to play Creepy Tale: Some Other Place

  1. Plug in a gamepad if you have one; the makers recommend it.
  2. Walk Martin through each scene and look for things to pick up or interact with.
  3. Use items on people, objects and mechanisms to clear the way.
  4. Solve the puzzles that block your path, from codes and charts to machines.
  5. Help the people you meet where you can, and keep going until Martin finds the way home.
