What frightens Friends filming an abandoned orphanage for their Lost Places channel add you to their group chat; fog thickens, their cameras show disturbing images, contact with the outside breaks up, and they need you to help them find out what happened there.

Content: violence, blood, suicide mentioned.

Orphans is a horror mystery played in a phone messenger. A group of friends exploring an abandoned orphanage for their Lost Places channel finds your number and pulls you into their chat, and as the fog and the strange footage close in, your replies shape what they do and how the story ends.

About Orphans

Orphans is a chat-based horror story by Reality Games, the German studio behind Seven and The Healing, published under SponsorAds GmbH & Co. KG. It came out in 2023 and has more than 500,000 downloads on Google Play. Some store pages list it as Orphans - Die Waisen.

Mika, Leon, Tammy, Jarek and their friends make creepy videos about abandoned places. Their next stop is an old orphanage surrounded by rumours, including a gruesome suicide nobody will talk about. Once they are there, one of them comes across your phone number, and you end up in their group chat called Haunted. A tricycle in an empty corridor, a window in a dark dormitory, a grave in the grounds: they send you photos and videos as they go.

What starts as a joke turns bad. The fog thickens, their cameras show things that should not be there, Leon walks the same hallway again and again, and calls to the outside world break up. You play by choosing what to write back: where they should go, what they should open, whom to trust. The makers say your decisions change both how the story goes and how it ends. A notes page recaps the story so far, and you can pick a theme, a profile picture and background music.

It is free with ads and optional purchases. It suits players who like found-footage horror and want to be the voice on the other end of the phone.

How to play Orphans

  1. Join the group chat when Mika and the others add you.
  2. Read their messages and open the photos and videos they send from the orphanage.
  3. Choose one of the offered replies to tell them what to do or what you think.
  4. Use the notes page to recall what has happened so far.
  5. Keep making choices until you learn the orphanage's secret and reach an ending.
