Record of Greypine is an analog-horror-inspired yandere visual novel by MischiefMischa. After a run of misfortune you are placed at Greypine National Park, in an early-2000s world where anomalies called Derivatives mutate animals and plants, and you learn about them from VHS tapes while getting close to your coworkers. The demo has three routes.

About Record of Greypine

Record of Greypine is the first game by MischiefMischa, who drew the sprites, CGs, backgrounds and interface alone. It is set in the early 2000s in an alternate version of our world, where anomalies called Derivatives mutate animals, plants and more, and nobody pretends misfortune is random. After intervention reports, closed cases and quiet conversations behind thin doors, you are accepted into a government placement program meant to give you structure, stability and a fresh start, at Greypine National Park.

You spend your days helping your new coworkers with park tasks and getting to know them. Between the chores there are analog horror tapes to watch, made in the style of old training videos from Greypine County, which explain the strange and depraved fauna of the area. A glossary fills with fauna entries as you find signs of them, such as hoof prints far bigger than any deer's, and a gallery collects what you have seen. There are three love interests, and the maker describes it as a yandere visual novel.

The demo runs past 26,000 words, with more than ten CGs, one VHS tape and three main routes that lead to the end of the demo; you can set your name and pronouns. The maker says the game is for mature audiences and lists warnings that include gore, murder, major character death, obsessive behaviour, drugging, cannibalism, dead animals and body horror, some of them for later updates.

The current version was released in July 2026 and is pay what you want on itch.io for Windows, macOS and Linux. It is still in development, and the maker hopes to finish it within a year or two. It suits players who liked Scarlet Hollow or Home Safety Hotline and want cryptid-style creatures mixed with a slow-burn yandere story.
