Silver Thread : Deux is the second case in Spica's free RPG Maker horror mystery series. After rumours of a haunted theatre, the exorcist Alicia Wilkershire, who doubts ghosts exist, is hired to investigate. It plays in the browser or on Windows in about an hour to an hour and a half, with two endings.

About Silver Thread : Deux

Silver Thread : Deux is the second game in Spica's Silver Thread series, released on itch.io in 2024. Like the first case it is made with RPG Maker MV, plays in the browser, and can be downloaded for Windows at a price you choose, including nothing. There are Japanese and Simplified Chinese versions too. The maker says it works on its own, though it follows Episode I.

Alicia Wilkershire is an exorcist who doubts that ghosts exist. This time she is hired to look into rumours of a haunted theatre. You walk her around its stage and back rooms in top-down pixel art, question the people there, and examine a scene marked with a body outline and blood. Her ghost-hunting kit gets real use: a thermometer and a spirit box that you have to use in the right places.

The maker drew on Ace Attorney and says this episode is more about developing its characters and introducing new ones than about the mystery alone, so there is plenty of banter between Alicia and her companions. The horror sits in the theatre itself and in strange interludes, like a television on which pale hands clap for a masked performer. The maker warns of cartoon blood and violence.

It runs about an hour to an hour and a half. Your choices earn a rating, and the ending guide explains that the good ending needs a high enough rating and the spirit box used in the right room; the other ending adds some character background. It suits players who liked the first case and want a longer one with a ghost hunt.
