Post Memory is a short, free RPG Maker horror mystery. You are a new postman in a remote town, delivering letters to neighbours with secrets, and the more you look the stranger the town becomes. It has four endings.

About Post Memory

Post Memory is a short horror mystery by Spica, made in RPG Maker MZ for the Spooktober Visual Novel Jam in 2024 and later patched with a browser version. You are a postman newly arrived in a remote town. You can slowly uncover the secrets that lie under its surface, or leave them alone; the maker puts the choice in your hands.

The town is drawn in clean top-down pixel art with large character portraits in the dialogue. Each day you deliver letters, talk to the residents, give them gifts to raise their hearts, and open locked doors with a lockpick and a twenty-sided dice roll. A brusque coworker, a florist, a priest and a hunter with a rifle are among the people you get to know.

The fear grows out of that cosy start. Cheerful music and bright colours sit beside a neighbour with blood on her face, rules nobody explains, and things in the town that are not right. The maker warns of cartoon blood and violence and heavy themes of religion and death. It is unsettling rather than full of jumpscares.

A run takes 30 minutes to an hour, and there are four endings, so most players go back for the others. The maker says another route may follow in a later update.

How to play Post Memory

  1. Open the itch.io page and press Run game, or download the Windows version (the maker suggests it if the browser version gives trouble).
  2. Move with the arrow keys and press Z or Space to talk, read and pick things up.
  3. Deliver the day's letters and talk to the townspeople; gifts raise their hearts.
  4. When a dice check appears, roll it to try to open doors or get past a moment.
  5. Save before big choices, then replay to reach the other three endings.

Tips

  • Save often: players report that some browser saves fail, and a failed roll can send you back a long way.
  • If an image error appears in the browser version, try the Windows download or a private browsing window.
  • Talk to everyone each day; the residents' rooms and remarks hold most of the story.
  • Look in places you are told to ignore; that is where the town's secrets are.
