What frightens You run your dead father's ship repair yard on an island in a busy sea route, and some of the ships that dock bring dark stories with them. Supernatural events during the working day eat at your sanity, and as it slips the screen fills with staring red eyes and dark entities start to notice you.

Content: bloodstains, corpses on some ships.

Sunken Engine is a first-person ship repair simulation with Lovecraftian horror, made by Two Nomads Studio and published by PlayWay. You inherit your father's shipyard, fix the ships that dock and sell what the sea gives up, while eerie events on the island wear down your sanity and the ships bring dark mysteries of their own.

About Sunken Engine

Sunken Engine came out on Steam in September 2026, developed by Two Nomads Studio and published by PlayWay S.A. After your father's sudden death, you take over his ship repair business on an island in the middle of a busy sea route, and with it the mysteries he left behind.

Most of the day is work. Ships of different sizes dock, and you meet their captains' needs: scrubbing, fixing and replacing damaged parts with your tools, sometimes underwater. You can sell loot recovered from the sea at a stall behind the shop, fish from the jetty, renovate the workshop and earn licences that open bigger ships and harder jobs. Money is tight across the town, and you have a family to feed.

The horror comes in through the work. Some ships carry dark stories and sinister secrets, and the supernatural events you meet in a working day threaten your sanity. Lose your balance and the job gets harder, the screen floods with red, staring eyes, and dark entities take an interest in you. An eye-marked book and strange rites hint at what your father was involved in.

Players compare it to DREDGE: a calm routine at sea with cosmic dread underneath. It suits players who like work and management games and want a creeping Lovecraftian story more than constant scares.

How to play Sunken Engine

  1. Take a docked ship's job and talk to its captain about what needs fixing.
  2. Use your repair tools on the damaged parts until the ship is fit to sail.
  3. Sell loot recovered from the sea at the stall behind your shop, and fish for extra money.
  4. Spend earnings on tools, workshop upgrades and licences for new kinds of ships.
  5. Watch your sanity and find ways to protect your mind, or dark entities will notice you.

Tips

  • Keep an eye on the sanity meter; a slipping mind makes repairs harder.
  • Use the stall behind the shop for steady income between repair jobs.
  • Look over each ship before you start: some are more than repair jobs.
  • Save often; players report bugs that can block progress later on.

Questions

Is Sunken Engine a horror game?

Yes, a gentle one. It is a ship repair and shop game with a Lovecraftian story, sanity loss and supernatural events, closer to DREDGE than to a game of constant scares.

Who made Sunken Engine?

Two Nomads Studio developed it and PlayWay S.A. published it, in September 2026.

Is Sunken Engine on console?

We found it only on Steam for Windows PC.

Is Sunken Engine like DREDGE?

Many players compare them: both pair daily work at sea with a cosmic horror that grows underneath. Sunken Engine is about repairing ships in first person rather than fishing from a boat.
