Content: jumpscares.
A first-person comedy horror game by Team Terrible in which you take a babysitting job and must feed, change and entertain a creepy baby while surviving his attempts to take control. It started as a 48-hour game jam entry and now spans 11 chapters.
About The Baby In Yellow
The Baby In Yellow is a first-person horror game by Team Terrible, an independent studio, that its makers call a Lovecraftian comedy horror game. It began as an entry made in 48 hours for the GMTK Game Jam 2020, inspired by Robert Chambers' book of stories The King in Yellow. It came to Android in 2021, the App Store the same year and Steam in 2023, and it is still in early access with new chapters being added.
You are the babysitter. Each chapter gives you a list of chores shown on screen: feed the baby, change his diaper, read him a story, put him to bed. You pick him up with ragdoll physics and carry him around the house, and you follow the instructions to move on. The baby does not cooperate. He floats in the air, wanders off where he should not be, steals fuses and stares at you with glowing eyes.
The chores get stranger as the chapters go on, moving from a dim house to a laboratory, a childcare company and darker places, with puzzles to solve and chase sequences. Hidden collectables free trapped souls and unlock cheats such as Big Head Mode. The game mixes jump scares with jokes, so it is frightening without being grim.
It is free on phones, with ads and in-app purchases, and paid on Steam. It suits players who want scares with a sense of humour.
