What frightens A serial killer called the Skin Stapler stalks Carrion City, skinning victims and stapling their flesh to nearby walls while distorted audio tapes taunt the police; you investigate grisly crime scenes as a burned-out detective and play the people he stalks through homes, workplaces and dark streets before he reaches them.

Content: gore, violence, frightening scenes, crude humour.

The Skin Stapler is a PSX-style grindhouse horror adventure. As a burned-out detective and his rookie partner you hunt a serial killer through the neon decay of Carrion City, and between the investigations you play his victims as he stalks them, in a story that mixes gore with crude B-movie humour.

About The Skin Stapler

The Skin Stapler is by Tainted Pact, the maker of Flesh Made Fear, Massacre at the Mirage, Suffer the Night and Terror at Oakheart, and was published by Assemble Entertainment in August 2026. It is built as what the store calls an XXL horror feature night inspired by 1980s VHS horror and exploitation films.

You play Dick Slater, a jaded detective, with his eager rookie partner Robbie Knox, hunting a killer who skins his victims and staples their flesh to nearby walls. You investigate crime scenes, solve grisly puzzles and follow distorted audio tapes that point to something darker under the city. Between those chapters you take control of other people, working a night shift or going home, while the killer stalks them.

Every character is fully voiced, and the look is neon-lit decay in chunky PSX graphics. The store says plainly that it blends horror and humour, and the humour is crude and constant; players who enjoyed it compare it to a cheesy cult B-movie, while others found the jokes wore thin over its roughly three hours. Those who liked it single out the victim chapters, where you go about an ordinary job knowing the killer is about to arrive.

The maker warns of heavy gore, violence and frightening scenes. It suits players who like slasher films and Tainted Pact's earlier games and do not mind horror played for laughs as well as for scares.

How to play The Skin Stapler

  1. Follow Detective Dick Slater to each crime scene and examine the evidence.
  2. Solve the puzzles that lead to the next clue or tape.
  3. When the story switches to a victim, carry out their routine and watch for the killer.
  4. Survive the stalking sequences by getting away when the killer appears.
  5. Keep following the tapes into the city's underbelly until you find the Skin Stapler.

Tips
